Upper Chattahoochee River Campground is a campground or RV park located in Helen.
Georgia's national forests are said to be a hiker's paradise. Winding trails lead visitors through scenic mountains and rolling hills, by wild rushing rivers and cascading waterfalls. The Campground is located within the National forest.The famous 2,135-mile Appalachian Trail begins here and hardy hikers don't see the end until they reach Maine! Located high in the north Georgia mountains and far from civilization, this recreation area offers camping, picnicking, hiking, and fishing along the headwaters of the Chattahoochee River. Campers have 34 campsites to choose from. The Appalachian Trail is nearby, as well as Horse Trough Falls and the Mark Trail Wilderness Area. The town of Helen is popular for Octoberfest and for its alpine village setting, especially during the fall season. anna Ruby Falls is also nearby and offers two hiking trails. The Lion's Eye Trail is accessible to people with disabilities. Andrews Cove Recreation Area has camp sites. Hiking along Andrews Cove Trail is popular among visitors.
